Q. What type of equipment do I need in order to access your servers?

A. You need access to the Internet either through modem dialup or through your local area network. You also need a PC running Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7.

We supply you with a client program which creates a "window" to our server right from your desktop.

Q. Will my data be secure when I'm working over the Internet?

A. Data transmission between your workstation and our server is encrypted (128-bit). In addition to our own internal auditing, our Internet connected routers are monitored by a security consulting firm around the clock.

Q. When I dial in, what is the performance like?

A. Our system conforms to the thin-client computing model. All processing occurs on the server (OnPayroll.ca) side, only screen information is transmitted to your computer desktop. Therefore, performance comes very close to what you would expect from an application loaded on your local area network.

Q. What happens when the Internet is "down"?

A. If you are not able to connect to our servers via the Internet, you have the option of using a modem to connect directly to our servers using regular phone lines.

Q. What is the pricing for processing a payroll with Onpayroll.ca?

A. We assess your company based on your company's requirements. Once we have analyzed your requirements, we will quote you a set fee.

Q. If we were to sign up with OnPayroll.ca, what is the
implementation process like?

A. Depending on the size of your company and the complexity of your payroll/HR requirements, these are the general steps we follow:

  • Conduct interviews/surveys with your payroll contacts in order to analyze your current services and identify all features required on new system.
  • Create a requirements specification. This Requirements Specification will include your payroll, HR, security, as well as support services needs.
  • Conduct further interviews or surveys as required until both parties are satisfied with the final specifications.
  • Prepare implementation schedule
  • Sign off on the requirements document and implementation schedule
  • Perform skeleton company set up and custom programming
  • Import/enter employee data
  • Conduct parallel run
  • Send parallel run reports to client for approval
  • Adjust company set up/programming as required
  • Sign off on parallel run reports

Q. Does your system generate interface files that we can download into our in-house systems?

A. Once set up on our system, interface files can be generated for the specified pay period during a pay run. We can set up an icon for your client software that will automatically transfer the interface files to your PC's hard drive or provide the files on a diskette.
